How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? HEBREWS 9:14 (New American Standard Bible)

“How much more will the blood of Christ…cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” The blood of CHRIST covers us. It was payment for our crimes (sins), those committed, forgotten and those yet to come. When we accept the truth of CHRIST we are born new creatures. As we edify ourselves in the WORD we change, our hold habits start to fall by the waste side, we start to see the wrong in the things we do. We start to ask for forgiveness. And after a while we should grow and move forward in CHRIST. Our battles should no longer consist of child’s play. As with physical growth, we are to grow in the spiritual.    Hebrews 6:1 reads, “Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.”    We need to leave the old behind and stand ready “… to serve the living God.” As an infant feeds on liquids for a time then turns to solids, we are required to do the same. There’s a time to think on childish things and then comes the time to become an adult and a finishing product of our LORD.    If we continue to bring the same baggage to the alter, that should be a sign that we are lacking somewhere in our spiritual walk. If you’re still crying about the minors you will never stand ready to do battle with the majors. We can not have a Santa Claus type belief.    Let us pray that we walk forth not only with the cleansing of the blood but “…draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (HEBREWS 10:22). AMEN.
