For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. Proverbs 1:32 (New International Version)

Waywardness is defined as: Given to or marked by willful, often perverse deviation from what is desired, expected, or required in order to gratify one’s own impulses or inclinations. With that said, how many of us can say that we are “not” wayward? How many times have you gratified your own selfish impulses in direct disregards of the outcome or the compromise?    Jeremiah 2:19 (NIV) reads: “Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the LORD your God and have no awe of me,” declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.   The definition of waywardness fits perfectly with that of complacency: A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy, an instance of contented self-satisfaction, the feeling you have when you are satisfied with yourself.   The end means to either one is death. And it’s our own fault. Jeremiah 4:18 reminds us what happens when we give into our fleshly desires: “Your own conduct and actions have brought this upon you. This is your punishment. How bitter it is! How it pierces to the heart!”   Pray that you don’t become complacent, pray for your family in CHRIST, pray for those that turn from Him and while you’re at it please pray for me and mine. AMEN.
