A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things. Proverbs 18:9 (NLT)

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:53 am by Devotions with MYK. Come, walk with me.

The world is full of lazy people. And if you were to ask Solomon what he thought, he may reply something like;” They are living an untroubled, unbothered, effortless, affable, aimless, ineffective, irresponsible and worthless existence.” As a matter of fact he does say something like that throughout Proverbs.

Proverbs 10:26 tells us that, “Lazy people are a pain to their employer…” and it goes on to liken them to, “… smoke in the eyes…” or like to drinking, “… vinegar…” Not really flattering at all. And in Proverbs 26:15 we learn that simple everyday task can become burdensome and they dread coming to face things like cooking, cleaning or making a way of life for themselves. Any of this sounds familiar? It’s what we would call a freeloader. Know any? I hope it’s not you.

Oh, I almost forgot, the classic lazy person motto is something like “Never do today, what could be done tomorrow.” Living like this, will be, their own down fall. Getting on in life seems unattainable and preparing for the future looks like a waste. Proverbs 24:33-34 (NLT), “A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.”

I pray that my brothers and sisters in CHRIST will not fall into slothfulness. I pray that this yoke may be broken, for what a waste of life that will be. LORD I pray that this yoke is broken in my own life, for I too can be quick to put away for tomorrow what should be done today. FATHER I pray for your continued strength in my life and I thank you for what you are doing in and for your people. AMEN.
