Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10 (NKJV)

“Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer…” These words, this whole verse, in fact this whole book was written in the past. These words were spoken in the past in order to prepare us for future things to come. Again we are being warned of things in which we will have to endure. We are told not to fear.

We are warned that “…the devil is about to throw some of you into prison…” Prison (no not jail, the big house, the pen or the joint) is defined as: A state of imprisonment or captivity. Satan is our principle enemy. He is labeled as the prince of this world. He will use all the pleasures, temptations and vices of this world to ensnare you, to hold you prisoner.

“…Be faithful until death…”  Until “death”!!! That’s strong. Why until death? Why can’t we just indulge the flesh and ask for forgiveness later? Easy. We are not citizens of this world. And we are here for but a time. Plus “If we endure, we shall also reign with Him…” but, “If we deny Him, He also will deny us (2 Timothy 2:12 NKJV).” And at the end, these words, spoken in the past, would have been talking about us; “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death (Revelation 12:11 NKJV). Imagine, the scripture referring to you years before you were born.

But wait; besides reigning with Him, he is going to reward us. “…and I will give you the crown of life.” Once again, words spoken about us, in the past, pertain to our future. “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12 NKJV)”. And 1 Peter 5:4 (NKJV) reads, “… when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.” for “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing (2 Timothy 4:8 NKJV).”

ABBA, I pray that my brothers and sisters in CHRIST will endure. We have read the book and know the outcome. We have read scripture that reads to us, that speaks about us. We know who wins, we know how to win and we know the victory belongs to CHRIST the King!!! Right before the finish, my prayer is that my brethren may be able to say, ” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7 NKJV).” AMEN.
