Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Romans 6:16 (New King James Version)

“…to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves…whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness…” Paul knew this all to well, he continually refers to himself as a “bondservant of Christ and even made Christ out to be a bondservant Himself (read Philippians 2:7).

How does this affect us, you ask?! Easy, we all have decisions to make. Do we follow thru on that urge to commit a crime (sin) or do we wrap ourselves in prayer and conquer the conflict?!? If we sin, then sin is our master. In John 8:34; ‘Jesus responded, “I assure you: Everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.’”. And there’s a price to pay for our crimes; “For the wages of sin is death… (Romans 6:23/ read Revelations 21:8).”

As there is a price to pay for committing a crime, there is also a rewarding gift for obedience and righteousness. That gift, that reward is “…the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Amen!!!
